what makes you happily jump out of bed in the morning?
Is there something you love doing so much, that you can’t wait for the day to start?
For me, there are two things, Motherhood, and my passion for Photography. They are the reasons, why I get up in the earliest hours of the day, without moaning, even when it’s dark and rainy.
There is nothing more beautiful, than seeing my children’s angelic faces peacefully dreaming. And, with the first gentle kiss on their cheeks, they awaken to gift me with their sweetest smiles. It’s like a warm summer breeze, caressing my soul. These are the moments that we as mothers must cherish, and return to, when things get hectic and difficult.
Motherhood isn’t a fairytale, mind you!
It’s not only a great challenge, but also a huge responsibility! It isn’t taught at school, and you can’t get a diploma. It must be based on unconditional love! It must be a passion that drives you to be and do the best at all times, to be strong when it’s needed, and to be gentle when the waves of emotions are clashing on the cliff that you are for your children.
As if Mother Nature knew, how much strength and devotion it requires to be a Mother, she equipped us with this miraculous connection we have with our children, in which they feel that their mother’s arms are the safest place to be.
In the past ten years, I’ve been called Mommy a million times. To the point, that I sometimes don’t even remember my real name.
I wonder, if I still exist. The me, that had a name and a life of her own. In a faraway time and place. The one that travelled the world, and jumped out of airplanes. The Me, that wore high heels and elegant clothes.
And of course I run, again, because there is nothing else my body and soul could do! It’s what I am, what I know, what I want! To be a Mother.
I guess, that makes it my calling.
Does that surprise me? No! Not the least bit. Because, it’s what the women before me did. My mother and grandmothers lived for their children (they had 16 all together!). They sacrifized their names, their professions, and their dreams. But they all had one thing in common: Their love for their children, and the passion for their calling, Motherhood.
With Love, Monika
I’m currently reading a great book by Susan Merrill, “THE PASSIONATE MOM. Dare to Parent in Today’s World”. I haven’t finished reading it, but I can recommend it to all the passionate Moms out there!
