Honestly, . . . I just couldn’t resist.
I needed to rescue it.
I found this charming, retro style tea set in a junk shop last year, and it hurt my heart to see it stashed to the back on a shelf full of cheap, dirty and dusty china.
Just look at those elegant curves so famous for its time. That timeless rose decor in a color that is distinctly fall inspired, giving it a slightly masculine touch.
I’m neither a tea-person, nor did I necessarily need a new tea set. However, this was an emergency situation. I simply fell in love, and this tea set needed to be rescued. That made us a perfect fit!
As most vintage things, this lovely tea set has a soul.
A past life.
Under no circumstances could I leave it there in its dusty fate, among tableware that neither had class nor elegance!
Just imagine who it must have belonged to.
Who had used it?
On what occasions?
Was it a wedding gift, possibly never even used (like the one I got and never even used)?
Did the tea set belong to an elderly lady, who had to move into an old people’s home? Was it disposed of as easily as the lady had been, because she was a burden to the people in her life?
Or has it seen splendid tea parties, being part of a stylish table setting with extravagant floral centerpieces?
I will never know.
But, the feeling that I saved it from its dusty fate at the junk shop fills me with joy. Because it certainly deserves to be treated with dignity!
I lovingly cleaned and polished my little treasure, and maybe one day, this charming tea set will be the center of attention at a tea party, again.
